Myth or Fact? I need to lock my car even if it is parked in a garage.

FACT – While cars that are parked in a garage are less likely to be broken in to than cars on the street, garage doors can still be easily accessed. Give yourself the extra security of locking your car door, even if it is parked in an enclosed garage.

Myth or Fact? People don’t break into cars in my neighborhood.

MYTH – While some areas of town may see less crime than others, anyone can be a victim of a crime.

Myth or Fact? I’m only walking in the store for a couple of minutes, I don’t need to lock my car.

MYTH – Even if you are only leaving your car for a moment, you may not be able to get back in time to stop a criminal from opening your car door and taking easily accessible items. No matter how long you may be stepping away from your vehicle, you should always lock your door.

FACT – Hiding your valuables or removing them from the vehicle is a proven way to help prevent becoming a victim of a crime. However, locking your car door provides extra security for you and your belongings.
